Who We Are

The Global Sewage Treaty initiative is led by the Ocean Sewage Alliance, a nonprofit organization with a mission to eliminate sewage and wastewater pollution from our ocean and waterways, advancing equitable and holistic actions that benefit people and nature.

Recognizing that sewage pollution crosses borders and impacts shared waters, Ocean Sewage Alliance launched the Action Pledge for a Global Sewage Treaty to establish a coordinated international response to one of the most solvable, yet most overlooked, environmental challenges.

Supported by the Paul M. Angell Family Foundation, the initiative seeks to establish a binding United Nations agreement that accelerates progress on wastewater treatment, safe reuse, pollution prevention, financing, monitoring and accountability.

As the coordinating organization behind the initiative, Ocean Sewage Alliance helps advance the research, partnerships, and policy development needed to support a Global Sewage Treaty.
